Francesco, 50 years old. Autonomy in daily life for a person with an outcome of stroke

Abstract: Francesco is aged 50 and in 2005 had a cerebral hemorrhage, that damaged both the motor abilities, resulting in hemiplegia, with aphasia and cognitive abilities, with aphasia, attention and body image disorders. This project aims to bring attention to the path that was made by Francesco, his family and all professionals who followed him. The hardest part of this work was the family’s acceptation of an unexpected situation, leading to a sudden new planning of life in general. Thanks to a close collaboration with the family and especially a strong motivation by Francesco, the solutions adopted granted a better quality of life for him. The main objectives of this project were the provision of aids and then the return home of Francesco, more and more the protagonist of his own choices.

Abstract: (text automatically translated from Italian) The work proposes the case of Emiliano, a boy 18 years old who the past year are remained victim of a street incident in which he has brought back an head injury and one medullary lesion to dorsal level, with consequent coma and paraplegia. When, after a long period of hospitalization in several centers, the boy is reached from we, posture adapted to the consequent muscle-skeletal limitations was believed must only face the study of one the trauma.
