Abstract:
The author, in this experience, was responsible for the restoration of the apartment of Marina, a 41 years old paraplegic woman, who expressed a strong need to live independently in her home. Thus, after evaluation of her needs and expectations, the housing complex was analyzed to reorganized. The program was focused on four main types of regulatory intervention, using the support provided by law: 1) indoor design 2) home appliances 3) accessible furniture and 4) aids for personal autonomy. Although the literature did not provide univocal references for the renovation of living spaces, the result was very positive in terms of both structural objectives achieved and satisfaction and autonomy on the part of Marina.
