Abstract:
Carla is a woman aged 33, since 1991 she has been working for a major textile company. In 2003, during work, Carla starts having pain in her neck, in the joints of hand fingers and in her wrist, elbows and shoulders. She also declares to feel shakes and pangs in the hands when handling objects with subsequent immobilization of the same for several minutes. This involves uneasiness and loss of function in performing certain daily activities such as opening or closing jars, so Carla is obliged to ask for help from family members. In this short presentation potential risks arising from the performance of this particular work are highlighted, as well as the suitable design solution making the workplace more secure and protected. The proposed project is expected to lower the risk of musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs , that could lead to work-related onset of disability and to the risk of losing the job.
