Abstract:
This meeting, held at the Don Gnocchi Foundation on November 17-18, 2016, included a study visit and the launch of new cooperation perspectives among EPR members in the field of medical rehabilitation. At the Foundation’s headquarters in Milan, Italy, the participants had the opportunity to visit the facilities and laboratories and discussing practices, methods and priorities with key staff. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss and compare care and medical rehabilitation models from different health systems and plan future cooperation and activities. The first day was devoted to the description of the Don Gnocchi Foundation acrivities, through a morning session with podium presentations and an afternoon session visiting the "IRCCS Santa Maria Nascente" and the "Beato Palazzolo" facilities and care services. The second day was devoted to the comparison among care and rehabilitation models of the EPR members taking part in the visit (besides the Don Gnocchi Foundation, the Mulhouse Rehabilutation Centre in France, the Adelante Rehabilitation Centre in The Netherlands and the Lubiana University Rehabilitation Centre in Slovenia) and to planning future collaboration. It included a workshop in which each organization presented its care models by answering a number of study questions such as "what is your rehabilitation model from intake to discharge?"etc.; and a public seminar where they presented their history, structure and practices. The detailed program and the speakers' slides are freely downloadable.
