Abstract:
Fit4MedRob was created with the aim of revolutionizing the current rehabilitation and assistive models for patients of all ages with reduced or absent motor, sensory or cognitive functions, through the development of new digital bionic and biorobotic technologies, as well as innovative paradigms of care that can exploit these technologies at all stages of the rehabilitation path, from prevention to home care in the chronic phase. Starting from an accurate identification of the current needs of patients and healthcare professionals, Fit4MedRob will design multicenter clinical studies in order to realize a new paradigm of continuum-of care that will start from prevention to include all stages of the disease, from acute to chronic, and will contribute to the design of new prevention and treatment protocols and diagnostic tools for fragile individuals or workers exposed to occupational diseases or repetitive stress. Fit4MedRob will focus on both available technologies, not yet fully established in clinical practice, and on emerging and revolutionary technologies and principles to explore during the project. Nevertheless, clinical, scientific and technological studies will be integrated from a regulatory and organisational point of view in order to accelerate the creation of a synergistic framework to incorporate, in a sustainable way, current and future technologies and protocols in the healthcare system and to reinforce the innovation that they will gradually be able to introduce.
